Residents of Don Panaca, Magpet, Cotabato urge authorities
to address spread of skin disease

By Alvin Sacala

KIDAPAWAN CITY—In our barangay, Don Panaca, Magpet, Cotabato, a disease spreads gradually on children and adults.

The said disease which spreads in our barangay, Don Panaca, is a skin disease or itchiness of the body.

Based on information I gathered, a medical mission was already conducted but until now, no cure is still in sight. This is an enormous problem in our barangay.

In an interview with fellow resident in our barangay, Jobert Luhong, he said, "This disease comes from the water we use every day because the source of water is near a banana plantation."

In an interview with another fellow resident in our barangay, Jake Bugcal, he said, "The outlet of the water we use everyday is situated at the lower portion of a banana plantation."

While strolling, I interviewed Arwin Bayawan. He said, "The people are at fault on this as they indiscriminately throw their garbage."

In an interview with another barangay resident, Michael Tawan, he said, "Parents are at fault on this as they did not take care of their children—who usually play on dirty water like that on the canal and flood water during rainy days."

This is one enormous issue that has not been given solution yet.

Meanwhile, we, the residents of barangay Don Panaca, urge the local government unit or LGU to address this problem.
